Jiangxi

Jiangxi Province does not see many visitors, but does have a lot to offer. The provincial capital of Nanchang is nice and with a bunch of interesting sights, but Jiangxi's real charm lies in the north part of the province.

Wuyuan County, in the far north of Jiangxi, is stock-full of quiant villages of white-washed houses and small streams, surrounded by green hills. Here life is still very traditional and visiting one of these villages is almost like stepping back in time. Hongcun Village is renowned all over China as the 'village of long life', and it sure seems like a good place to grow old. Life is unhurried, the sky is blue and the food is great! The nearby Double Dragon Pagoda is nice to stop by, as is the Rainbow Bridge in Qinghua Town not far away. Other villages worth exploring to the north of Wuyuan include Upper Likeng Village, while you will find beautiful Likeng Village and Shaoqi Village to the east, where the Moon Bay also lies.

Further west you will reach Jingdezhen, famously known as the pottery capital of China. Traditionally all Chinese porcelain was made here, and the city is still an important center for the ages-old tradition. Still further west lies Lushan, a famous retreat where party leaders met back in the day.
